State Patrol offers driving course for young adults and parents...media=

The Colorado State Patrol will sponsor an "Alive at 25" driving course =
for
young adults ages 15 to 24 and their parents tomorrow Saturday at Bandi=
mere
Speedway in Morrison.

Young adults who attend the Alive at 25 class receive behind-the-wheel
training in simulator, obstacle course, parking maneuver and skid contr=
ol.
Parents receive simulator, obstacle course and skid control vehicle
training.

The training is conducted by current or retired law enforcement
professionals, including Colorado State Patrol troopers, who share thei=
r
experiences and defensive driving tips.

The cost is usually $115, but sponsorship from Big O Tires has made thi=
s
class available for only $30 per young adult and $35 per parent.

The Center for Transportation Safety and Alive at 25 will also have a
trailer at the site equipped with simulators to help participants bette=
r
understand the dangerous effects of driving while intoxicated and/or
distracted. Those in the class will also have the opportunity to experi=
ence
driving a skid car (with an instructor present) to learn safe defensive=

driving techniques while trying to maintain control of a vehicle being
manipulated into a skid.

A driving course is set up for students to drive through with an instru=
ctor
present to teach key principles of driving.
